Abelisaurids is a group of medium-bodies carnivorous theropods that lived in South America and Africa throughout the Cretaceous. They are characterized by their small, virtually useless arms with five digits, their muscular legs, long tails, stocky body, blunt and wide skulls and a variety of odd horns ant osteoderms scattered on their bodies. The group is named after Abelisaurus, but is commonly grouped with Carnotaurus.
