Kronosaurus is a dubious genus of short-necked pliosaur that lived during the Early Cretaceous.
History[]
In 2021, Kronosaurus was labelled as a nomen dubium. The holotype was kept as referred to K. queenslandicus because it was seen as undiagnostic, everything included in K. boyacensis was lumped into a new genus, Monquirasaurus and moved diagnostic K. queenslandicus to a new genus, Eiectus. However, many have shown their disapproval of this decision and future taxonomic revision is almost certain. Some think the Harvard pliosaur specimen should be designated as a neotype, which was proposed as far back as 1962 - 3 years after the specimen was prepared and mounted. Albian Eiectus may represent a distinct genus, which would leave an excuse for Kronosaurus to be conserved,
