Mammuthus is a genus of elephants that lived during the Ice Age in the Tundra/Mammoth Steppe all around the globe.

Description Edit

Mammuthus range widely from sub species. Certain species were haired whereas others were not. Mammuthus would use its trunk for grasping at objects and performing basic life elephants like modern elephants.

Paleoecology Edit

Mammuthus were generally herd animals and where hunted by anything big enough to take one down. Smilodons, Dire Wolves, and even early humans such as Neanderthals would regularly hunted Mammuthus. The hunting of Mammuthus drove it to extinction.

The African mammoth is the second oldest mammoth that lived during the Late Pliocene in Africa.

The dwarf Sardinian mammoth is an extinct species of mammoth that lived during the Middle-Late Pleistocene on the island of Sardinia.

The southern mammoth is an extinct species of mammoth that was exclusive to Europe and Central Asia. The southern mammoth lived during the Early Pleistocene.
